In Barili, Cebu, a 57-year-old woman known as “Eva” is facing a challenging health condition, with her stomach abnormally enlarged, causing her weight to soar to 180 kilograms. Despite having slim limbs, her stomach has continued to expand, leading to severe physical and health complications.

Eva’s story gained attention after being featured on the television program “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho,” where it was revealed that she lives with her sister Norma and has been suffering from this condition for years. Her niece Leah noted Eva’s declining mobility and self-care abilities, including the troubling sign of continuous vaginal bleeding, which is abnormal for her age.

Medical intervention became possible when the show facilitated financial aid, allowing Eva to undergo diagnostic tests. These revealed she has ascites, a condition characterized by fluid accumulation in the abdomen, often linked to liver disease. Moreover, a concerning discovery was an ovarian mass with a high likelihood of being malignant, indicating potential ovarian cancer.

The medical team, led by Dr. Olivia Alve Dandan, plans to remove the excess fluid before considering surgery for the mass, stressing the urgency of addressing her condition to prevent further complications. The family has called for financial assistance to support Eva’s treatment and potential surgery, highlighting the critical need for community support in health crises.
