In a recent development, law enforcement authorities have pressed multiple criminal charges against four individuals linked to the horrific beheading of a security guard at a car dealership in Quezon City on Christmas Eve. The Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (QCPD – CIDU) spearheaded the legal action, as conveyed by P/Major Don Llapitan during a conversation with GMA News Online.
The charges, encompassing robbery with homicide and carnapping, were lodged against four suspects, including Joemar Ragos, Michael Caballero, and two unidentified individuals. The motive behind the gruesome act was speculated to be a robbery attempt at the EDSA Balintawak dealership, following a successful sales period where the office safe was believed to contain significant funds.
Ragos and Caballero, who were among the accused, had professional ties with the 50-year-old victim, Alfredo Tabing, working in the same establishment. According to P/Major Llapitan, the suspects, aware of the dealership’s recent major sales, aimed to exploit this knowledge. One served as a driver while the other was employed as a barista, positions that presumably granted them insights into the dealership’s operations and financial dealings.
While no video footage of the crime exists, witness testimonies point to the involvement of the two named suspects and their accomplices in the removal of the office vault. The tragic outcome of the incident is thought to be a consequence of Tabing’s attempt to thwart the robbery, a theory supported by the lack of forced entry signs and the absence of a struggle at the crime scene.
The heartbreaking narrative unfolded as Tabing’s last communication with his wife occurred on Christmas Eve, with subsequent attempts to reach him proving futile. The grim reality of his fate was discovered by his spouse the following day at the dealership.
This incident, marked by its brutality and the breach of trust within a workplace, casts a somber shadow, prompting a rigorous legal pursuit by authorities to ensure justice for the victim and his bereaved family.
