Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero has officially signed the detailed architectural and engineering design (DAED) for the new Senate building under construction in Taguig City.

At a press conference on Thursday, Escudero revealed that this is the first time the multibillion-peso project has had a complete design blueprint since construction began in 2019. He emphasized that such detailed planning should have been completed before breaking ground.

“This DAED acts as a comprehensive roadmap—not just a general plan, but a thoroughly detailed one,” Escudero explained. He noted that the Senate has already aligned the necessary work and funding through formal bidding processes.

A ceremonial signing and on-site inspection with stakeholders is set for next week to assess the building’s current stage. Escudero said this would help clarify public expectations, reiterating that the building won’t be completed within the year.

So far, the new Senate complex has received a total of ₱23.5 billion in funding since 2018, including ₱4.2 billion from the 2025 national budget.
