A tanker truck accident on the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) early Saturday morning resulted in a hazardous spill of coconut oil, creating perilous conditions for motorists, particularly motorcyclists. The incident, which occurred at 8:10 a.m. in Pasay City, involved the truck colliding with a concrete post at the Skyway ground level, leading to the spill that affected both lanes of the expressway.

Multiple motorcycles lost control and crashed due to the slippery conditions caused by the coconut oil spill. Emergency responders rushed to the scene, with several injured riders being transported to a healthcare facility at Villamor Air Base for treatment. Among the injured were two individuals, including one from the Army, who suffered significant injuries, such as a concussion to the forehead and a laceration to the eyebrow, as reported by a responder in Navy uniform.

Authorities, including police officers, were quickly on site to manage traffic and assist the victims of the accidents. The truck driver, identified as Bernie Rivas from Muntinlupa City, is under investigation. Traffic buildup was significant following the crash, but the expressway lanes were cleared and made passable before noon, as per the latest updates.

The incident has prompted an investigation by the Southern Police District (SPD), led by Police Brigadier General Mark Pespes, to ascertain the full details and cause of the accident. The swift response of emergency services helped manage the situation and minimize further accidents on this vital thoroughfare.
