A Pasig court has ordered the camp of detained televangelist Apollo Quiboloy to explain the airing of his pre-recorded message before supporters, which was later posted on social media without court approval.

Violation of Court Guidelines

Date of message airing: February 9, 2025
Social media post date: February 10, 2025
Court ruling: Video was released without prior review and approval, violating court-set guidelines.
Response deadline: Five days to explain the matter.

Quiboloy’s Legal Team Defends Video Message

Atty. Israelito Torreon, Quiboloy’s lawyer, stated that the court granted their request for the detained pastor to send messages to his supporters on February 9, 11, and 13. However, the court denied his request to personally appear in media interviews.

When asked about allegations of VIP treatment, Torreon cited Quiboloy’s constitutional rights and the Nelson Mandela Rules for the treatment of prisoners.

Quiboloy’s Legal Troubles

Quiboloy faces non-bailable charges for:
Qualified Human Trafficking under RA 9208 (as amended)
Child Abuse & Exploitation under RA 7610

Call for a Manual Vote Count

Torreon also urged the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to conduct a manual ballot count in precincts for the 2025 midterm elections, citing concerns over vote verification and transparency.

Quiboloy’s camp has yet to issue an official response regarding the court order.
