A tragic road incident in Monkayo, Davao de Oro, resulted in one fatality and 22 injuries when a passenger bus en route to Butuan City collided with a stationary container truck. The accident occurred early Sunday morning along a national highway in Barangay Baylo. The truck, parked due to an engine malfunction, had inadequate warning signs, leading to the unexpected collision.
The bus conductor, Riann Mamusog, aged 32, died from the crash, while the injured passengers were rushed to the Davao de Oro provincial hospital. Investigations are ongoing to ascertain the cause and liabilities, with initial findings pointing to poor visibility and signage of the parked truck as significant factors. Both drivers are currently under police custody for further questioning.
