Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte has expressed gratitude to the Filipino people following the release of the OCTA Research Tugon ng Masa survey, which highlighted the Department of Education (DepEd) as the most trusted and top-performing government agency in the Philippines. Under Duterte’s leadership, DepEd achieved a trust rating of 79% and a performance rating of 80% in this third quarter 2023 nationwide survey.
This remarkable recognition is attributed not just to the leadership but to the collective efforts of everyone associated with the department. Duterte emphasized that this achievement was the result of united efforts from dedicated teachers, staff, parent support groups, private partners, and stakeholders, all working towards the shared goal of enriching and fulfilling the dreams of Filipino children. She reassured the public of DepEd’s commitment to continue fighting for better education and security for the Filipino youth, recognizing its critical role in building a stronger nation.
The survey, conducted by OCTA Research, involved face-to-face interviews with 1,200 male and female respondents aged 18 years and above and has a ±3 percent margin of error at a 95 percent confidence level. The highest trust ratings for DepEd came from the Visayas and Mindanao regions, both scoring 88%, while the lowest was in Balance Luzon at 70%. In socio-economic terms, the highest trust ratings were seen in Class D (80%) and Class E (78%), with the lowest in Class ABC (69%).
The survey also revealed that a majority of adult Filipinos were satisfied with the performance of government agencies, with DepEd leading with an 80% performance rating. The performance ratings varied across regions, with the highest in Visayas (91%) followed by Mindanao (88%), and the lowest in Balance Luzon (72%).
In the context of overall government agency performance, DepEd was not alone in receiving high ratings. The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) both received a 75% rating in trust and performance, while the Department of Health (DOH) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) followed closely behind.
The results of this survey are a testament to the dedication and effort put in by the various departments and their staff, highlighting the significant progress being made in public services in the Philippines.
