The Department of Health (DOH) reaffirmed its commitment to bolstering health infrastructure in Surigao del Sur, with senior official Gregorio Murillo Jr. pledging national-government support for local healthcare facilities.
Murillo emphasized that the DOH will work closely with local governments to upgrade existing centers, roll out new primary care units, and ensure these facilities meet the required standards to serve residents effectively.
The announcement comes amid broader efforts in Region XIII (Caraga Region) to expand licensed primary care facilities—such as in Tandag City and Barobo in Surigao del Sur—under the DOH’s push for accessible, quality health care.
Local officials welcomed the DOH’s assurance, noting that many communities in Surigao del Sur face geographic and resource challenges, making strengthened health-facility support a critical need.
