President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday stated that a certain presidential aspirant for the 2022 elections uses illegal drugs, particularly cocaine. He also said that the candidate is a “very weak leader, ang character, except for the name.”
Although he did not name the ‘drug-using’ candidate, Duterte hints that the aspirant comes from a rich and well-known family, known for its powerful male figure. “There’s even a presidential candidate na nag-cocaine. May kandidato tayo na nagko-cocaine ‘yan. ‘Yang mga anak ng mayaman,” Duterte said during a speech to the national force in Mindoro.
He chastised the candidate by condescendingly questioning the presidential contender’s actual contributions to the country while also criticizing the blind support given to the person by the public. Duterte said, “Ang tatay… Pero siya, ano ginawa niya?… Anong nagawa ng tao na ‘yan? What contribution has he made para sa Pilipinas? Bakit ang Pilipino parang lokong loko na supporting…,”
He then told the public that they should “find out” who the candidate is, and that they had been warned. “Hindi ako nang-iintriga. Bahala kayo. Find out kung sino. Magtanong kayo sa Davao kung may kilala kayo. Ang mga taga-Maynila, ‘yung mga mayayaman talaga,” Duterte remarked.
