An unfortunate incident in Dingras, Ilocos Norte, left a 78-year-old woman, Estelita Agustin, injured after being attacked by a stray dog from her neighbor’s residence. The dog, which was not previously known to be aggressive, unexpectedly bit her on the foot and then on the face as she was walking by. The attack caused her to fall, exacerbating her injuries.

The incident was reported by Gab de Luna on GMA Regional TV One North Central Luzon on Tuesday. Agustin, a resident of Barangay Elizabeth, recounted the harrowing experience, noting the sudden change in the dog’s behavior.

Fortunately, a neighbor came to Agustin’s aid, helping her to the hospital where she received treatment for her injuries. The dog owner also contributed to the medical expenses. However, a day following the attack, the dog responsible for the incident died. The owner has yet to bury the animal, planning to have it tested for rabies.

In light of this event, Dominador Sacramento, the local barangay captain, issued a reminder to pet owners in the area to secure their dogs properly to prevent similar incidents. The community is now more aware of the importance of responsible pet ownership and the potential dangers of unsecured animals.
