Actor Enchong Dee was at Digos City, Davao del Sur today, June 2, for the mediation of the ₱1-billion cyber libel case filed last year against him by Drivers United for Mass Progress and Equal Rights – Philippines Taxi Drivers Association (DUMPER-PTDA) Partylist Representative Claudine “Dendee” Bautista-Lim.

The mediation comes four (4) months after Dee voluntarily surrendered to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and posted bail for the case.

Dee was at the Hall of Justice in Digos City for the hearing of the aforementioned lawsuit, which was rooted from his allegations that Bautista-Lim used public coffers to finance their wedding at Balesin Island Resort, Polillo, Quezon on August 11, 2021.

“The money for commuters and drivers went to her wedding. Let’s not prolong this conversation and don’t say otherwise,” Dee said in his now-deleted tweet dated August 14, 2021.

Bautista-Lim and his entrepreneur husband, Jose French “Tracker” Lim IV, took offense from Dee’s claims as it negatively affected their reputation and claimed that the then-pregnant Bautista-Lim almost lost her baby due to the stress the situation brought.

The actor has since apologized to Bautista-Lim and her husband, to their family, and to DUMPER-PTDA Partylist.

However, Bautista-Lim’s camp pushed through with filing a cyber libel lawsuit against Dee, and demanding ₱500M for moral damages and ₱500M for exemplary damages.

On December 29, 2021, Davao Occidental provincial prosecutors found probable cause to bring the case to court.
