Award-winning comedienne Eugene Domingo has joined the highly anticipated production of Into the Woods, taking on the role of Jack’s mother from Jack and the Beanstalk.
Theatre Group Asia (TGA) made the announcement Monday, adding Domingo to a stellar cast that already includes Lea Salonga as The Witch and Broadway star Arielle Jacobs as Cinderella.
“I’m so excited to be part of this popular and critically acclaimed musical as Jack’s mother,” Eugene shared in a statement. “I love that the material is inspired by fairy tales yet reveals a realistic twist we can all relate to. This one entertains as much as it teaches.”
A Magical Story with a Twist
Based on the book by James Lapine and featuring music by Stephen Sondheim, Into the Woods weaves together beloved fairy tales such as Jack and the Beanstalk, Cinderella, and Little Red Riding Hood. The characters’ stories are tied to a baker and his wife on a quest to lift a curse cast by The Witch, setting off a chain of magical yet thought-provoking events that highlight the consequences of their choices.
Behind the Scenes
The production is helmed by Tony Award-winning artist Clint Ramos, who serves as the overall artistic director, with Chair Arespacochaga as director. TGA previously brought to life the wordless play Request sa Radyo in 2024, featuring Lea Salonga and Golden Globe nominee Dolly de Leon.
