A fire triggered by faulty electrical wiring broke out at an army barracks in Marawi City on Saturday afternoon, setting alarm bells ringing within the base. The blaze occurred at around 3 p.m. inside a personnel barracks of the 103rd Infantry “Haribon” Brigade at Camp Ranao, according to a report.
Initial findings indicate that a defective electrical connection was the likely culprit behind the fire.
Thanks to quick action from on-duty soldiers and support from the Bureau of Fire Protection, the flames were contained and prevented from spreading to other structures—no injuries were reported.
Brigadier General Billy O. Dela Rosa, the brigade commander, confirmed that preventive safety inspections will be intensified across the camp to avert similar incidents in the future.
