MANILA, Philippines — Historic strides for Filipino leadership in the global music industry as Roslyn Pineda has been appointed the new President of Sony Music Publishing (SMP) Asia.
Pineda, a seasoned executive with over two decades of experience, succeeds longtime president Carol Ng, who is set to retire at the end of March 2026. In her new role, Pineda will be based in Hong Kong, overseeing the creative and business operations of SMP across all Asian territories and expanding global support for the region’s songwriters.
A Career Defined by P-pop and Global Collaboration
Before this appointment, Pineda served as the General Manager of Sony Music Philippines and later as the Vice President of Artist Relations and Business Development for the label’s Asian branch.
- “Mama Sony”: Known affectionately by Filipino fans as “Mama Sony,” Pineda was instrumental in the reopening of Sony Music’s Philippine office.
- P-pop Revolution: She is credited with the strategic signings of major Filipino acts including SB19, Ben&Ben, and IV of Spades, playing a pivotal role in the global rise of P-pop.
- International Portfolio: Her career includes collaborations with a diverse array of global stars, such as John Mayer, One Direction, Alicia Keys, Ricky Martin, F4, Leehom Wang, and Jessi.
Vision for the Future
In a statement released on Monday, February 16, 2026, Pineda expressed her enthusiasm for leading the region during a transformative era for the industry. “I look forward to collaborating with our talented team… to empower our songwriters across Asia. Together, we will foster a vibrant, energetic environment that prioritizes creativity and innovation,” she said.
Guy Henderson, President of International at Sony Music Publishing, praised Pineda’s track record in artist development. “With Ros’s success in the artist development and creative space… she brings a new focus to the region to further expand our business into the future,” Henderson remarked.
Pineda’s elevation to the presidency highlights the growing influence of Asian—and specifically Filipino—creative executives in the international music landscape. Her leadership is expected to further bridge the gap between Asian creators and the global music market.
