Filipina figure skater Skye Chua expressed her pride in representing the Philippines at the FISU World University Winter Games in Italy, held on January 17 and 18.

Chua, a student at the University of the Philippines, competed in the women’s single skating event. Reflecting on the experience, she shared her thoughts in a heartfelt Instagram post on January 18.

“Isang karangalan,” she wrote. “It was my first time representing both my university and the country in a competition. While I wish I had achieved my goal, it still feels surreal to have performed here and shared this experience with everyone. Now that my back is free from injury, it’s time to work harder for the upcoming season.”

Chua earned a score of 26.69 in the short program but did not advance to the free skate as only the top 24 skaters qualified.

The event saw Japan’s Rion Sumiyoshi and Mone Chiba clinch gold and silver medals, while Kazakhstan’s Sofia Samodelkina secured the bronze.
