Early Monday morning, a fire erupted at the Abra Market located at the corner of Abra Street and Congressional Avenue in Barangay Bago Bantay, Quezon City. Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud explosion followed by the outbreak of flames, primarily originating from a cooking area within one of the market’s eateries, as reported by Allan Gatus of Super Radyo dzBB for Unang Balita.

Panic ensued as people rushed out of the market, with stall owners helplessly watching as the fire consumed their livelihoods. The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) quickly responded to the emergency call, managing to control the fire by 5:38 AM and completely extinguishing it by 6:02 AM.

The BFP is currently conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the fire and assess the extent of the property damage. Following the incident, Congressional Avenue was reopened to traffic, which had been previously congested with fire trucks during the firefighting efforts.
