A four-month-old infant, Rhea, was kidnapped while her parents were sleeping on a sidewalk in Quezon City, as reported by 24 Oras Weekend. The incident, which occurred on October 4, was captured by CCTV, showing a female suspect carrying out the crime in the early hours of the morning.
In the footage, the woman—wearing a hoodie—was seen watching the area before placing an umbrella near the baby’s family. Moments later, she quickly picked up the infant and flagged down a taxi.
The baby’s mother, Rosel Manansala, expressed her deep anguish over the kidnapping, saying, “Para po kaming binagsakan ng langit at lupa” (It feels like heaven and earth have fallen on us). She has been distraught, wondering if her child is being harmed or cared for.
Authorities have been able to track down the taxi the suspect used, with the driver revealing she was dropped off at a mall before boarding a bus bound for Laguna. Police are now using this information to aid in the search for the suspect and recover the child.
Manansala made a heartfelt plea for the return of her daughter, saying, “Nakikiusap at nagmamakaawa ako sayo, ibalik mo sana yung anak namin” (I beg you, please return our daughter).
