In a gesture of appreciation and support, the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT3) and Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT2) will offer free rides to solo parents on April 20, in recognition of Solo Parents’ Day. This initiative aims to acknowledge and celebrate the dedication and sacrifices of solo parents across the metropolitan area.
According to the management of MRT3 and LRT2, the free rides will be available during peak hours from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. To avail of the free rides, solo parents need to present a valid solo parent’s ID or a certificate of eligibility to the station personnel.
Transportation Assistant Secretary for Railways and MRT-3 Officer-in-Charge Jorjette Aquino expressed her admiration for solo parents: “We aim to bring joy to them on their special day and hope to convey our appreciation for their sacrifices.”
Likewise, LRTA Administrator Atty. Hernando Cabrera emphasized the organization’s recognition of the challenges faced by solo parents, stating, “At LRTA, we understand the weight of the responsibilities that solo parents carry. Through this celebration, we hope to express our admiration and gratitude with this small gesture of free rides.”
This initiative follows similar efforts to provide free transportation on significant days such as Araw ng Kagitingan and Women’s Month, reflecting a broader commitment to supporting various communities throughout the year.
Solo parents planning their commute on April 20 are encouraged to take advantage of this offer, which not only eases transportation costs but also serves as a recognition of their hard work and dedication to their families.
