According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the current weather pattern is being driven by the easterlies—warm winds blowing from the Pacific Ocean.

PAGASA warned that the heat index—the “apparent temperature” felt by the human body—will reach the “extreme caution” category (33°C to 41°C) in several areas.
