Gigi de Lana, the Filipino singer-actress known for her soulful voice and vibrant stage presence, has made a heartfelt appeal to the public, asking for prayers for her mother who is currently battling Stage 4 breast cancer in the ICU. In an emotional message shared during a recent performance, de Lana opened up about her mother’s critical condition and her deep personal hope for recovery.
A Daughter’s Emotional Plea
During one of her gigs, captured in a video posted on her official Facebook page, de Lana took a moment to share the struggles her family is facing. “My mom is at the ICU now. If you have seen my Instagram stories, there’s a prayer there. If you want to pray for my mom, you can pray for her if you want. She’s fighting for her life now, and I don’t know if when I go home she will still be there. But I really wish she would be. I really want to hug her and kiss her,” said de Lana, visibly holding back tears.
The 28-year-old artist also expressed regrets about not spending more time with her mother, emphasizing the importance of cherishing loved ones. “Because, you know, you don’t know when you will lose someone important to you, so spend time with them and love with all your heart. There’s nothing wrong with it. Just love so you won’t have regrets,” she urged her audience.
Reflecting on Family and Love
In her poignant address, de Lana highlighted the unconditional support families provide and encouraged everyone to show more affection and appreciation towards their family members. “Please love your family because they are the ones who are there for you. Trust me, they love you with all their heart. Your parents love you very much,” she added.
De Lana has previously shared about her mother’s condition, revealing in February 2023 why she decided to cut her hair short—to empathize with her mother, who was losing hair due to chemotherapy treatments. She explained that she wanted to accompany her mother through her journey without initially telling her the real reason behind her new hairstyle.
Career and Personal Life Intersect
Gigi de Lana rose to prominence through her participation in “Tawag ng Tanghalan” on “It’s Showtime” and gained further recognition from her viral cover songs on YouTube and Facebook. She made her film debut in the 2020 movie “Four Sisters Before the Wedding.” Her public sharing of her family’s challenges has touched many fans, showcasing her genuine character both on and off the stage.
As de Lana continues to navigate her demanding career and her personal trials, her openness and resilience resonate deeply with fans around the world, many of whom are rallying in support and prayer for her mother’s recovery.
