World-renowned chef Gordon Ramsay shared valuable insights with aspiring chefs during an exclusive event at the Newport Performing Arts Theater on Monday.
When a culinary student from Le Cordon Bleu asked Ramsay about the most valuable lesson he learned early in his career, the Michelin-starred chef responded, “Get comfortable with being uncomfortable.”
Ramsay emphasized the importance of understanding different cultures, adding that travel plays a crucial role in a chef’s growth. “Travel into different cultures, and while you may not master the language, you can speak through the food,” he said.
Advice for Young Chefs
The celebrated chef advised young cooks to focus on education during their 20s rather than rushing into high-responsibility roles.
“Never take any job just for the salary. It’s not the money you need; it’s the knowledge,” Ramsay explained.
Upcoming Projects in the Philippines
During the event, Ramsay revealed plans to open three more signature restaurants in the Philippines, hinting at a potential “beautiful Hell’s Kitchen.”
On this visit, Ramsay also collaborated with “Lumpia Queen” Abi Marquez to create a lumpia-inspired version of his iconic Beef Wellington.
Ramsay is the mastermind behind several Michelin-starred establishments, including Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in the UK and Le Pressoir d’Argent in Bordeaux. His global presence includes the Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill, already established in the Philippines.
