The government has allocated ₱3 billion to enhance internet access in public schools nationwide, aiming to improve digital learning and bridge the connectivity gap among students and teachers.

According to the Department of Education (DepEd), the funds will be used to upgrade existing network infrastructure, install high-speed connections, and expand Wi-Fi coverage in schools, particularly in remote and underserved areas.

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) will lead the implementation, ensuring that the new systems meet the standards for reliable and secure online learning. Officials said this move supports the Marcos administration’s commitment to digital transformation and equitable access to education.

Education Secretary Sara Duterte emphasized that better internet access will empower teachers to use more interactive and technology-driven teaching methods, while students will benefit from enhanced access to online learning materials and digital tools.

The initiative is part of the DepEd’s “MATATAG” agenda, which focuses on creating a more resilient and inclusive education system.
