Transport firm GV Florida Transit is preparing to file a cyberlibel complaint against the individual who uploaded a viral video allegedly showing its buses racing on a national highway in Cagayan.
According to a Super Radyo dzBB report, the company’s lawyer claims the video was edited—sped up to falsely depict the buses as racing. The footage, reportedly filmed on June 8, featured six GV Florida buses and quickly circulated online, sparking public concern over passenger safety.
As a result of the video’s impact, three bus drivers had their licenses revoked, and 15 GV Florida units were suspended for 30 days. These units served routes from Sta. Ana to Sampaloc in Cagayan and from Baguio City to Apayao.
The company previously issued an apology, stating that the content in the video did not reflect its operational standards or values. However, Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon dismissed the apology as unacceptable.
GV Florida now aims to hold the uploader accountable for what it deems as a misleading and damaging portrayal of its operations.
