Heart Evangelista candidly reflected on the challenges she faced in her marriage with Senator Chiz Escudero, revealing that their differences in love languages once drove her to pack her bags and leave.
During the latest episode of Heart World, Heart shared that while they loved each other, they struggled to connect emotionally.
“We just loved each other, but we were so different in terms of our love language,” she explained. “His love language was service, taking care of me and others. Mine is touch and words of affirmation. He showed tough love, and I didn’t feel nurtured.”
Reaching a Breaking Point
Feeling lonely and restless, Heart admitted that she hit her limit.
“I packed my bag. I really left. It was a very tough time,” she said, describing how anger and rebellion clouded her decisions.
The rough patch reached its peak in 2022, during which the couple didn’t communicate for months. Heart revealed she even removed Escudero’s surname from her Instagram, further fueling split rumors.
“He was trying—he even brought me flowers—but I wouldn’t talk to him. No one could change my decision. I was out,” Heart said.
A Turning Point with Family
The actress also shared how her strained relationship with Chiz’s children, Chesi and Kino, added to her emotional turmoil.
She recalled a heartfelt conversation with Kino that helped her realize how much she was valued in the family.
“I was touched. For the longest time, I felt unappreciated in the home. But Kino made me see otherwise. That changed everything,” she said.
Reconciliation and Lessons Learned
After deep reflection, Heart decided to wear her wedding ring again, return home, and reconcile with Chiz.
The couple ultimately addressed the 2022 split rumors by celebrating New Year’s together and rebuilding their relationship.
In a 2023 interview on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, Heart revealed that the experience taught her valuable lessons about marriage and resilience.
