Heart Evangelista took a heartfelt trip down memory lane as she recalled her renewal of vows with husband, Senate President Chiz Escudero, at Balesin Island earlier this year.
In the latest episode of her show Heart World, the Global Fashion Icon shared how Chiz proposed to her a second time during a challenging phase of her life.
“During that time, I had so many uncertainties, and my mind was in chaos,” Heart said. “For me, I wanted to feel love—not just see it on paper. It took a year of reflection before I felt ready to plan.”
The couple renewed their vows on February 15, a day after Heart’s birthday and Valentine’s Day. The intimate ceremony took place at the same venue where they first tied the knot in 2015.
A Celebration of Love
Heart described the renewal as a deeply meaningful experience, saying:
“When we first got married, I thought I knew what love was, but I didn’t. This time, it felt like getting married for the first time all over again.”
In her vows, Heart referred to Chiz as one of her life’s “greatest archangels” who possesses the unique power of unconditional love.
“That love healed so many people around you, and it healed me too,” she said.
Heart’s mother, Cecilia Ongpauco, walked her down the aisle, while her father, Rey Ongpauco, sent his love and blessings via video from the United States, where he was undergoing medical treatment.
The bride looked radiant in a custom Ellie Saab gown, while Chiz complemented her elegance in an all-white suit.
A Love That Grows Stronger
The intimate ceremony was attended by close friends and family, reflecting the couple’s renewed commitment to each other.
“You’re not just a husband; you’re the greatest angel there is,” Heart said to Chiz, moving many of their guests to tears.
