Heart Evangelista has expressed her support for Yoda, the aspin (Asong Pinoy) that went viral after being turned away from the Tagaytay restaurant, Balay Dako.
On Instagram Stories, Heart posted a photo of her own beloved aspin, Panda, with the caption, “Aspin Society Elite President Panda Ongpauco Escudero.” She also added, “Sending love to ‘Yoda’,” as a show of solidarity.
The latest post on Panda’s Instagram account, which is run by Heart, shows the dog lounging on pillows and an LV blanket, humorously captioned, “Anong walang breed??? Mas may breeding pa ako sa inyo ha. Loka mga to.” In the comments, Heart playfully suggested, “Invite mo na anak si Yoda for high tea!”
Yoda became the center of attention after its owner, Lara, shared her experience of being turned away at Balay Dako due to the dog’s weight exceeding the restaurant’s limit for pets. Lara also mentioned that the restaurant questioned Yoda’s breed, prompting her to call the dog a “mixed breed” to avoid potential biases.
Balay Dako has since issued an apology, explaining that their pet policy was in place for guest safety and spacing considerations. They are currently reviewing the policy to ensure clarity and fairness.
