MANILA — Senator Imee Marcos revealed she hasn’t had a private conversation with her brother, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., in quite some time. Speaking in an interview on Saturday, she said their only interactions happen during public events.
“We haven’t spoken for a long time… Too many people around him prevent us from talking,” she shared.
Despite being left out of the President’s recent rally speech in Cavite, where he endorsed 11 Senate candidates, Imee said she holds no hard feelings.
“It’s okay. I’m not bothered by it. I’m focused on investigating the potential transfer of former President Rodrigo Duterte to the Hague. Defending our sovereignty should come before politics and campaigns,” she stated.
Senator Marcos is a vocal supporter of Duterte, who faces possible arrest under an International Criminal Court warrant over alleged human rights abuses during his war on drugs—a move being handled by the current administration.
In another Alyansa rally held in Laguna, President Marcos again made no mention of his sister while urging support for his Senate slate.
