Filipino pride lit up the NBA as Houston Rockets guard Jalen Green paid tribute to fellow Filipino baller Kevin Quiambao during the team’s Filipino Heritage Night on Wednesday.
Green shared a sneak peek on his Instagram story of a custom sneaker inspired by Quiambao, crafted by renowned Filipino artist Quiccs. “Some heat for tonight,” he captioned the post. The gesture didn’t go unnoticed—Quiambao reposted Green’s story in appreciation.
The Rockets star backed up the style with substance, dropping 22 points in a commanding 143-105 win over the Utah Jazz. Notably, Filipino-American guard Jordan Clarkson of the Jazz sat out the game.
Green has proudly embraced his Filipino roots, including a visit to the Philippines three years ago for a lifestyle event. Meanwhile, Quiambao continues to represent overseas as he plays in the Korean Basketball League.
