Janella Salvador shared her disappointment regarding a cancelled girl love (GL) movie project with Jane De Leon, a collaboration that had initially excited both the actresses and their fans. In an interview with “On Cue,” following her recent contract renewal with her home network, Salvador revealed that the project was pitched and both had agreed to proceed, but it ultimately did not materialize due to various setbacks.

The concept of Salvador and De Leon starring in a GL movie garnered significant interest, especially following their on-screen dynamic in the 2022 adaptation of Mars Ravelo’s “Darna,” where they portrayed adversaries. This unexpected chemistry sparked a fan-driven campaign for a GL movie featuring the duo, highlighting a desire for diverse representation on-screen.

Despite the project’s cancellation, Salvador remains hopeful for the opportunity to bring such a story to life in the future. She also emphasized her commitment to accurately and respectfully representing the LGBTQ community, acknowledging the importance of proper representation in media.

Salvador and De Leon are set to share the screen again in the upcoming dark comedy thriller, “How to Be a Good Wife,” which presents a new avenue for the actresses to showcase their talents amidst the setback of the GL movie project.
