Jimmy Butler, a six-time NBA All-Star, is reportedly pushing for an exit from the Miami Heat and hopes to be traded before the February 6 deadline, according to an ESPN report.
Rumors about the 35-year-old forward’s future in Miami have intensified in recent weeks. Since joining the Heat in the 2019-20 season, Butler has been a pivotal player, but he now desires a move to a championship-contending team. Potential destinations include the Phoenix Suns, Golden State Warriors, Dallas Mavericks, or Houston Rockets.
Heat’s Position and Butler’s Contract
The Miami Heat, currently holding sixth place in the Eastern Conference with a 14-13 record, are reportedly entertaining trade discussions for Butler.
Butler is under contract for $49 million this season, with a $52 million player option for the 2025-26 campaign. However, he is expected to decline the option to test free agency in July.
On-Court Performance
This season, Butler has started in all 20 games he has played, averaging 18.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game while shooting a career-high 55.2% from the field.
As the trade deadline approaches, the league watches closely to see if the Miami Heat will grant Butler’s request and which team might secure his services.
