Veteran director Joel Lamangan has announced plans to create a biographical film about the late National Artist for Film, Nora Aunor, with celebrated screenwriter Ricky Lee.

In a heartfelt Facebook post, Lamangan shared that he and Lee had discussed writing “The Nora Aunor Story,” and are simply waiting for the right time to begin, having already spoken with a producer.

“Though Ate Guy is no longer with us, we will push through with this project. Farewell, Ate Guy—you will always live on in my heart and memory,” Lamangan wrote.

He described Aunor as a remarkable actress known not only for her powerful performances but also for her kindness and sense of justice on set. “That’s who Ate Guy was—our great national artist who has now left us,” he added.

Lamangan recalled how working with Aunor shaped his own views on truth, history, and integrity in filmmaking.

The director and the Superstar collaborated on six films: Muling Umawit ang Puso, The Flor Contemplacion Story, Bakit May Kahapon Pa, Sidhi, Hustisya, and Isa Pang Bahaghari. Meanwhile, Ricky Lee is best remembered for writing Aunor’s landmark film, Himala.

Nora Aunor passed away on Wednesday due to acute respiratory failure at the age of 71. Her wake is currently being held at Heritage Park in Taguig, with public viewing scheduled until Sunday. Her burial will take place on April 22.

Tributes from fans, celebrities, and international media continue to pour in, honoring Aunor’s extraordinary legacy in Philippine cinema.
