Joshua “Josh” Aquino, the eldest son of media personality Kris Aquino, joined Senator Nancy Binay’s mayoral campaign in Makati, showing support during a motorcade held in Guadalupe Nuevo on May 1.
Josh, warmly welcomed by Binay as their “special guest,” enthusiastically greeted supporters and encouraged them to vote for Nancy Binay. In a Facebook Live video, he was seen smiling and saying, “Hello. How are you? Vote for Nancy [and] Binay.”
Nancy Binay, who is running for mayor, is up against her own brother-in-law, Congressman Luis Campos—husband of current Mayor Abby Binay, who is campaigning for a Senate seat. Nancy’s running mate is actor-turned-politician Monsour del Rosario.
The Aquino and Binay families have had a long, if sometimes complicated, relationship. Kris Aquino has previously expressed her gratitude to the Binays, especially Anne Binay Alcantara, for including Josh in their family events. Despite past political differences—particularly during the presidency of Kris’ brother, the late President Noynoy Aquino—the families have remained personally close.
Josh’s appearance reflects continuing friendly ties, especially between Kris and the Binay siblings, including former mayor Junjun Binay. Josh’s younger brother, Bimby, is also reportedly close with Nancy Binay’s children.
