Karolina Shiino, the Ukraine-born beauty queen who made headlines as Miss Japan 2024, has decided to step down from her role following revelations of an alleged affair with a married influencer doctor. Crowned on January 22, 2024, Shiino’s reign was short-lived after Shukan Bunshun, a local publication, brought the affair to light.
Despite initial defenses by the pageant organizers, who claimed Shiino was misled about the doctor’s marital status, her modeling agency, Free Wave Co., disclosed that she continued the relationship even after discovering the truth. The agency pointed out that Shiino’s initial dishonesty stemmed from fear and a desire to avoid further complications.
In a candid admission on Instagram, Shiino acknowledged the inconsistencies between her explanations and the facts, citing confusion and fear as reasons for her initial reluctance to disclose the truth. She announced her decision to resign as Miss Japan 2024 and requested the termination of her contract with her agency.
