In a significant move within college basketball, Kean Baclaan has officially joined De La Salle University, marking a new chapter in his athletic career. The news broke following Baclaan’s recent split from National University earlier this year. Confirming his transfer in a conversation with GMA News Online, Baclaan expressed his enthusiasm with a succinct and spirited message on X, stating “Animo!” accompanied by a green heart emoji, symbolizing his allegiance to his new team.
Baclaan’s transfer is not just a change of team but also a return to his roots. Reflecting on his journey, he shared, “I originally came from La Salle in high school, so it has always been my dream to join La Salle in college.” His previous tenure at De La Salle Santiago Zobel during his high school years adds a nostalgic touch to this new beginning.
During his time with National University, Baclaan left a notable mark. In UAAP Season 86, he showcased his prowess on the court, boasting averages of 10.64 points, 4.36 rebounds, and 4.71 assists per game by the end of the elimination round. His performance has set high expectations for his upcoming seasons with De La Salle.
Looking ahead, Baclaan will be eligible to play for the Green Archers starting in UAAP Season 88. He is set to join forces with some of the league’s standout players, including the reigning UAAP Most Valuable Player Kevin Quiambao and fellow newcomer Jacob Cortez, positioning the Green Archers as a team to watch in the upcoming seasons.
