Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns has ascended to 8th place on the NBA’s all-time scoring list, surpassing the legendary Shaquille O’Neal, with his latest 22-point performance in a victory against the Philadelphia 76ers. Durant’s career total now stands at 28,610 points, a milestone achievement in his illustrious basketball journey.

At 35 years old, Durant continues to dominate on the court, averaging nearly 28 points per game in his 17th season, slightly above his career average. His scoring prowess has seen him overtake basketball greats such as Hakeem Olajuwon, Elvin Hayes, Moses Malone, and Carmelo Anthony this season alone.

Expressing gratitude for his achievement, Durant acknowledged the significance of surpassing O’Neal, a player he holds in high regard. Looking ahead, Durant eyes the 7th spot, currently held by Wilt Chamberlain, who amassed 31,419 career points.

During a game pause, the Suns showcased a congratulatory video from O’Neal, hinting at the continued journey ahead for Durant in the scoring legacy. With LeBron James setting the bar as the only NBA player to reach 40,000 points, Durant’s climb on the scoring ladder is a testament to his enduring impact and skill in basketball.
