Legazpi City—In an effort to curtail the spread of Covid-19 in Legazpi, the hub of Bicol region, Legazpi City Mayor Noel imposed the new protocols to prevent the spread of Covid-19 here.
In a directive issued by Rosal on Tuesday, he said that Legazpi will prohibit unvaccinated individuals to go to indoor and crowded places under alert level 2 situation.
“Due to the emerging threat of the Omicron variant in the region, the Legazpi City Covid-19 Task Force reiterates the following protocols under Alert Level 2.
“Unvaccinated individuals who are eligible for vaccination are highly discouraged to go to places that are closed (indoor), crowded, and have a high close contact potential. This is to ensure the safety of the individual and families,” he said.
“Parents are advised to let their children, aged 11 years old and below, to stay at home. Inter-zonal movement from other parts of the country and intra-zonal movement within the region shall be allowed, provided vaccination cards are presented,” Rosal added.
He said that the Legazpi City police station, the Legazpi City Fire station, the Public Safety Office and Task Force Kalinigan, Kaayusan at Kalikasan are tasked to oversee these activities, Rosal said in his directive on Tuesday here.
Rosal said that the move of the city government is a precautionary measure to prevent the possible surges of Covi-19 in the countryside.
“Just a precaution for everyone, for our safety, mahirap na mag surges uli sa atin. Mabilis ang positivity rate ng omicron variant bale 20 percent na. So far, ok naman tayo at continue na booster jab natin,” he said.
“Basta at least 3 months na from our 2nd dose or 1st dose sa Jansen. Just see tabi the schedules posted ko. For the meantime always wear your mask lalo mga malapitan na usapan indoors. Keep calm tabi but safety first always,” Rosal said.
As this developed, the Bicol Medical Center (BMC) in Naga City told the employees to be vigilant against Omicron strain.
Dr. Jose Manuel Rañola III, chief of BMC’s Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Disease (EREID) Center told the public health employees to be vigilant against COVID-19 especially that the Omicron variant has entered the country and the province of Camarines Sur.
“As we usher in the new year, let us all be reminded that COVID-19 is still here. And with the threat of the Omicron variant, let us continue to be vigilant,” Rañola said. Rañola Reiterated the cooperation of every hospital employee in preventing the spread of Covid 19 in the workplace.
“If you have symptoms, even the slightest colds, please do not report for work; instead, consult at the EREID ER (Emergency Room) for clearance,” he said.
Rañola also reminded the public health personnel to refrain from eating altogether and urged them to undergo booster shots.
“No eating together,” which should be observed in the hospital. I cannot overemphasize the use of facemask, social distancing, hand washing, and please do not eat together. Lastly, please get your booster shots,” the head of infectious disease said.
As of yesterday, BMC has eight admitted COVID-19 patients, a significant decrease after the two surges occurrence last year. (Raydes Barcia)
