MANILA, Philippines — Local government units (LGUs) and national government officials have reaffirmed their commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion as part of broader efforts to build more equitable communities across the country.

The commitment was highlighted during recent talks between representatives of the national government and leaders from various LGUs, which focused on advancing policies and programs that recognize the value of diverse voices and ensure equal opportunities for all Filipinos.

Government officials emphasized the importance of fostering inclusive environments in both public service and community engagement, saying that diversity initiatives help strengthen social cohesion and ensure that vulnerable sectors are not left behind.

The collaboration reflects ongoing efforts to implement national strategies—such as the government’s Diversity and Inclusion Program—that aim to institutionalize nondiscrimination and enhance representation across regions and sectors.

LGU leaders echoed these priorities, noting that inclusive governance can improve public trust and the delivery of services by ensuring that local policies and programs address the needs of diverse populations.

Local government participation in inclusion initiatives may also align with broader national goals to expand anti‑discrimination policies and support marginalized groups through tailored social services and community programs.

Officials said continued cooperation between the national government and LGUs is key to further embedding diversity, equity, and inclusion principles in policy planning, governance, and public programs nationwide.
