Makati City has approved an increase in cash incentives for its senior citizens, with Mayor Abby Binay signing an ordinance that grants an additional ₱1,000 to eligible recipients starting this July.

According to City Ordinance No. 2025-104, seniors enrolled in the Blu Card Program and holding a Makatizen Card will receive the updated benefits in two installments—one in July and another in December. The new annual cash gift rates are as follows:

  • ₱4,000 for ages 60–69
  • ₱5,000 for ages 70–79
  • ₱6,000 for ages 80–89
  • ₱11,000 for ages 90–99
  • ₱12,000 for ages 101 and older

To qualify for the higher-tier incentives (ages 90 and up), seniors must have held a Blu Card for at least five years, as confirmed by the Makati Social Welfare Department (MSWD). Otherwise, they will receive ₱6,000, similar to the 80–89 age group.

Mayor Binay expressed hope that the additional funds will help seniors manage rising living costs. The ordinance also sets eligibility guidelines based on registration dates:

  • Registered from January to March 31: Eligible for both July and December payouts
  • Registered from April 1 to September 30: Eligible for December payout only
  • Registered from October 1 to December 3: Not eligible for either incentive this year

The ordinance was passed by the city council on June 11, reflecting Makati’s continued commitment to supporting its elderly population.
