President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. extended his congratulations to Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese following his reelection, highlighting the deepening ties between the Philippines and Australia.

In a video message shared Thursday evening, Marcos praised Albanese’s “resounding victory,” saying it reflects the strong trust Australians place in his leadership. “I have no doubt you shall carry it forward with the same resolve and vision that you have long defined in your public service,” he said.

Marcos also emphasized the growing friendship between the two nations, rooted in shared values and mutual respect. He suggested a future meeting, saying, “Perhaps this is a sign that it’s time for another visit,” playfully adding that their next conversation could be over a “flat white down under or a rich cup of chocolate in Old Manila.”

The Philippine leader visited Canberra in February 2024, where he addressed the Australian Parliament and sought stronger regional cooperation amid rising security challenges.
