President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. showcased his humor on Tuesday as he playfully teased the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), clarifying that it has nothing to do with romance.

“This is not the ‘Sustainable Lovelife Program,’ okay?” Marcos quipped, joking that some might wonder if the program offers training for people nursing broken hearts. He lightheartedly pointed out that DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian tops the list of “personalities without partners.”

Marcos continued to poke fun at Gatchalian’s busy schedule, saying, “Our Secretary is too hardworking—there’s no time for romance.”

He added that if the SLP were truly about love, there would be a flood of applicants. “Some people are already invested, but still no label,” he joked. “But we’re here to focus on business, not hearts.”

The SLP is a government initiative providing technical-vocational and life skills training to marginalized communities, aiming to enhance their socio-economic status.
