Despite a delay in the confirmation of his appointment, Jay Ruiz has been instructed by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to continue his duties as the acting Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary.

Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro confirmed this during a press briefing, stating that both the President and Ruiz agreed he should carry on with his work.

“Ayon sa Pangulo at kay Secretary Jay, tuloy lang sa pagtatrabaho,” Castro said.

She emphasized that the pending confirmation will not hinder the PCO’s ongoing efforts to combat misinformation.

Ruiz, who was sworn in as PCO chief by President Marcos last February, remains committed to the department’s initiatives, including advocating for legislation similar to the EU’s Digital Services Act to curb harmful online content.
