President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has expressed optimism that Tesla’s presence in the Philippines will bolster the country’s electric vehicle (EV) industry.

Speaking at the launch of the Tesla Center Philippines in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, Marcos highlighted the company’s investment as a testament to the nation’s potential and its progressive policies.

“Tesla’s decision to invest in Manila is a recognition of our nation’s potential, underpinned by forward-thinking policies and a collective determination to innovate,” the President said.

Marcos emphasized that Tesla’s entry would not only accelerate the shift to sustainable transportation but also empower Filipino talent. He acknowledged Tesla’s contributions toward environmental sustainability and workforce development, calling it a significant step toward achieving broader EV adoption in the country.

“With plans to expand further, Tesla is building a generation of Filipinos equipped to lead in the global shift toward sustainable technologies,” he added.

The President also expressed hope that Tesla might eventually manufacture its vehicles in the Philippines.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the EV industry by lowering production costs, improving financing options, and expanding charging infrastructure.

“A more conducive and empowering environment for the electric vehicle industry will attract more companies to this vital sector in the coming years,” Marcos noted, adding that Tesla’s presence could inspire local innovation and attract new investments.

Marcos concluded by thanking Tesla for its confidence in the Philippines.

“Your investment in the country extends beyond transportation and infrastructure; it is in the people and potential of the country,” he said.
