President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. urged the graduates of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) on Tuesday to serve the nation with honor, even when their efforts go unrecognized, especially in times when truth and integrity are often challenged.
Speaking at the 46th Commencement Exercises of the PNPA “Sinaglawin” Class of 2025 in Silang, Cavite, Marcos addressed the 206 graduates — 168 men and 38 women — encouraging them to uphold righteousness without seeking reward.
“In today’s world, where truth is frequently questioned and loyalty easily swayed, I ask you: Choose the honorable path even without reward, and stand for what is right even when no one is watching,” Marcos said.
He reminded the graduates that perfection is not demanded from them, but their presence and commitment are.
“Our country will never expect you to be perfect, but it will expect you to be present — visible and dependable — as true enforcers of the law,” he said.
Marcos acknowledged that challenges will test their principles, but advised them to stay rooted in their reasons for choosing the path of service. He emphasized the importance of their oath to the Republic, their duty to uphold the Constitution, and their responsibility to the people.
Cadet Marc Joseph Vitto of Oriental Mindoro, who ranked first in the class, received multiple honors including the Journalism Kampilan, Best in Forensic Science, and Best in Education awards. Vitto has opted to be assigned to the Police Regional Office 12 (PRO12).
The event, themed “Kapulisan Na May Malasakit at Integridad, Sandigan ng Kaayusan ng Sambayanan,” featured a Parade and Review to honor the President and the graduating class.
The class name “Sinaglawin” — from sinag (ray of light) and lawin (hawk) — symbolizes the cadets’ mission to be vigilant, courageous, and a beacon of hope as future public safety leaders.
