As Holy Week begins, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. encouraged Filipinos to stay resilient and hopeful in the face of life’s difficulties, drawing inspiration from the strength and compassion of Jesus Christ.
In a message delivered on Palm Sunday, Marcos reminded the nation to reflect on the example of Christ’s selflessness, particularly during this time of remembering His passion, death, and resurrection.
“Like Christ, may we stay resilient and optimistic despite life’s trials. Let every challenge mold us into better individuals—more understanding and giving toward others,” said the President.
He also emphasized the hope found in Easter, symbolizing triumph over adversity, and called on Filipinos to find strength in the presence of family and loved ones during the sacred season.
“This Holy Week, may we be reminded that God walked with us, giving us strength to endure and inspiring us to support each other through life’s hardships,” he added.
This year’s Holy Week observance runs until April 19, with Easter Sunday on April 20. According to Proclamation 727, Maundy Thursday (April 17) and Good Friday (April 18) are regular holidays, while Black Saturday (April 19) is a special non-working day.
