President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. emphasized the importance of taking immediate action rather than assigning blame when addressing national issues, particularly during crises like the recent power outage in Siquijor.
Speaking on the BBM Podcast released Friday, Marcos shared his straightforward approach to problem-solving: “Fix the problem, not the blame.”
Referring to the days-long blackout in Siquijor, Marcos said people often ask who should be held accountable. While accountability matters, he stressed that the priority should always be resolving the issue first.
“Let’s fix the problem before pointing fingers,” he said.
The President’s remarks came after electricity was fully restored in the province on June 14, following several days of power interruptions that disrupted daily life for thousands of residents and businesses. The National Electrification Administration (NEA) led the efforts to bring back stable power.
To prevent future occurrences, Marcos has given relevant agencies a six-month deadline to provide a long-term solution. This includes a comprehensive review of the Siquijor Island Power Corporation’s (SIPCOR) operations.
