ILOCOS NORTE — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Thursday pledged to enhance the healthcare system in Romblon.
In a speech delivered by Interior and Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos, President Marcos announced that the Department of Health (DOH) is actively collaborating with local officials to modernize healthcare facilities in the province. The initiative includes recruiting more medical professionals, healthcare workers, and specialists.
“Last April, we were able to provide a Super Health Center in Magdiwang on Sibuyan Island,” Marcos mentioned, highlighting the recent healthcare advancements in Romblon.
The President referred to the P846 million allocated for the government’s Health Facilities Enhancement Program, which funds 134 health facility projects across MIMAROPA. Additionally, the government has disbursed P2.37 million for medical, nursing, dental, and nutrition services for students, teaching, and non-teaching staff from seven school divisions in the region.
“We hope you can utilize the assistance we provided to enrich your province,” Marcos added, expressing his expectations for the local community to maximize the benefits of the government’s support.
Due to bad weather, Marcos could not personally visit Romblon, where he was scheduled to deliver aid to farmers and fisherfolk.
During his visit to Ilocos Norte, President Marcos attended the inauguration and turnover of the Rice Processing System and various agricultural machinery at the Piddig Basi Multipurpose Cooperative. He also participated in the Sulvec Small Reservoir Irrigation Project inauguration in the Municipality of Pasuquin.
