Marian Rivera recently shared a behind-the-scenes video on Facebook, showing the intricate process of achieving her bruised look for the film “Balota.”
In the video, the Kapuso Primetime Queen takes fans through the makeup transformation, demonstrating how the special effects team created the realistic bruises and wounds. “Pasilip ko sa inyo kung paano ako nagka sugat-sugat!” Marian captioned the post. She set the video to Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song,” adding a powerful touch to the clip.
“Balota,” featuring an ensemble cast including Wil Ashley, Royce Cabrera, Raheel Bhyria, Sassa Gurl, Esnyr, Nico Antonio, Donna Cariaga, Joel Saracho, Sue Prado, Mae Paner, and Gardo Versoza, follows the story of a land-grabbing tycoon and a former male sexy actor in a heated race for the mayoral seat of a small town. Marian plays Emmy, a dedicated teacher who becomes embroiled in the election’s chaos, running into the wilderness with a ballot box containing the final election results as violence erupts.
Directed by award-winning filmmaker Kip Oebanda, “Balota” is set to screen at the Cinemalaya Film Festival from August 2 to 11. The film’s official trailer and poster have already generated significant buzz, with previous teasers showing Marian holding a striking yellow ballot box and participating in intense scenes of protest alongside Sassa Gurl.
Reflecting on her experience, Marian expressed a renewed sense of fulfillment from working on the project. “Hindi ko mapaliwanag ‘yung pakiramdam ko after kong matapos ‘yung Balota, parang palagi kong sinasabi lalo na sa asawa ko na, alam mo ‘yung antagal ko sa showbiz pero parang bumalik ulit ‘yung fulfillment ko sa sarili ko sa paggawa ng trabaho,” she shared.
