MANILA – Megawide Construction Corp. has clinched a landmark P10 billion investment commitment from the Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-IBIG Fund) to accelerate its affordable and mid-market housing projects, the company announced on December 18, 2025. The partnership, sealed through a memorandum of agreement, positions Megawide as Pag-IBIG’s key developer for mass housing initiatives, leveraging the fund’s resources to address the Philippines’ estimated 6.5 million unit backlog.

Pag-IBIG Chief Executive Officer Marlene Rodriguez hailed the tie-up: “This collaboration with Megawide will fast-track the delivery of quality, affordable homes for our members—turning dreams of homeownership into reality.” The funds will support Megawide’s pipeline, including expansions in Carbon (Cebu), PHirst Park Homes subdivisions, and new developments in growth corridors like Cavite and Batangas.

Megawide Chairman and CEO Edgar Saavedra emphasized alignment with national goals: “This P10 billion boost enables us to scale up sustainable, inclusive communities—delivering value to Filipino families while contributing to economic growth.” The company targets 10,000+ units over the next five years, incorporating green features like solar-ready designs and rainwater harvesting.

The deal comes amid Pag-IBIG’s record P130 billion housing loan releases in 2025 (up 15% YoY), with Megawide’s track record in efficient, cost-effective construction making it a strategic partner. It also diversifies Megawide’s portfolio beyond infrastructure (e.g., NMIA airport) into recurring revenue from real estate.

For aspiring homeowners—especially minimum-wage earners eligible for Pag-IBIG’s subsidized rates—this investment isn’t just capital—it’s catalyst, bridging the gap to accessible, dignified living.
