Rainie Yang, who played Barbie Hsu’s best friend in the iconic Taiwanese series Meteor Garden, took to Instagram to express her grief over the sudden passing of her close friend and co-star.
In an emotional Instagram Story, Rainie shared a simple black photo accompanied by a heartfelt message.
“Xiyuan, thank you. I will miss you forever and love you,” she wrote in Chinese, referring to Barbie Hsu by her birth name.
Rainie portrayed Xiao You, one of Shan Cai’s (Barbie Hsu) best friends in Meteor Garden, which first aired in 2001. Xiao You was also the love interest of Xi Men, played by Ken Chu.
Following the news of Barbie’s death, Ken Chu also shared a tribute on Instagram, honoring his late co-star.
Barbie Hsu passed away at the age of 48 due to pneumonia. Her family and agent confirmed the news through the South China Morning Post and Focus Taiwan on Monday.
Barbie is survived by her husband, South Korean musician DJ Koo, and her two children from her previous marriage to Wang Xiao Fei, whom she divorced in 2021.
