Despite heightened tensions in South Asia following India’s missile strikes on Pakistani-controlled Kashmir, Miss World Philippines 2025 candidate Krishnah Gravidez has safely arrived in Hyderabad, India, to compete in the 72nd Miss World pageant.
Gravidez landed in the southern Indian state of Telangana on the evening of May 6, the same night India carried out precision military operations in disputed territory. Telangana, located roughly 2,500 kilometers from the conflict zone, remains unaffected by the unrest.
Sharing her excitement on social media, Gravidez posted, “Day one of many exciting days to come,” along with photos of her wearing a white Daniel Manila dress adorned with floral appliques. She also assured the Miss World Philippines Organization that all delegates, including herself, are safe.
Over 100 candidates are expected to compete this year, with the first pageant activity already underway as of May 7. Several flights to and within the region were disrupted due to rising tensions, and Pakistan has since closed its airspace.
India is hosting the Miss World pageant for the second year in a row, with Telangana showcasing its rich handloom heritage, cuisine, and reputation as a global healthcare and ecotourism hub. The grand finale is set for May 31 at the Hyderabad International Convention and Exhibition Center.
Gravidez is aiming to secure the Philippines’ second Miss World title, following Megan Young’s historic win in 2013.
